Remember watching the film, staring Donald Sutherland, brilliant film.
There was an early 60’s film of the Day of the Triffids starring Howard Keel. But the story diverged from the original book very early on. Rather less bleak ending.
Got that wrong.. Invasion of the body snatchers,very similar tho.
Leonard Nimoy was in it too. If I recall, the aliens who replaced people were plant-based.
