…doesn’t mean that you don’t need to explore the manual setting once in a while. Here’s a case in point. This very nice Clematis didn’t look particularly striking in the dull light cast by a grey afternoon, so I thought, ‘Let’s bugger about with the exposure settings’, and duly produced these photos…

At Plus One…

So Plus Two was bound to be a bit OTT. It was…

So I went in the opposite direction to Minus Two…

I said it was a grey afternoon – not a bloody eclipse! So, backing it off to Minus One…

…we come closer to the visual truth. But it wasn’t until I hit the Zero mark that things finally looked up…
